The ASHI-Georgia BOD is asking you NOT to vote on the proposed changes until after reviewing all the pros and cons. There is no immediate hurry. Become informed before voting.
By-Law voting is open until December 15, 2010.
FACT: In February of this year the membership voted NO to proposed changes in the ASHI Governance By-Laws. You are now asked to vote again on a similar if not the same changes. Become informed!!!!

During the 1990s and early 2000s there were attempts, rumors and assorted discussions from legislatures to bring forth some type of home inspection licensing bill. It became clear to the ASHI-GA Board that eventually a bill to regulate home inspectors could become a reality.
February 2004: The ASHI-GA Board initiates a committee to start drafting proposed legislation for home inspectors. The committee was made up of Robert Golden, Mike McGowan and I. The document was to be created only incase legislation was introduced by someone else so we would not be caught unprepared. The document was only to be used if something unexpectedly came up from the General Assembly or a private citizen.
May 2004: The first draft of our propose legislation was submitted to the Board for input.

The $1.1 billion settlement of the class action lawsuit against polybutylene piping (Cox vs Shell Oil Company) will expire on January 31, 2009. The lawsuit, filed on November 17, 1995 on behalf of homeowners with PB pipe, provides for free replacement of the PB pipe and compensation for damage to properties with qualifying leaks. The Consumer Plumbing Recovery Center (CPRC) in Plano Texas has been the authorized administrator for this settlement and manages a website to provide more information regarding PB pipe and the claims process (www.pbpipe.com).
