Should I report the possible presents of Chinese Drywall?  CPSC has received about 3,296 reports from residents in 37 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, and Puerto Rico who believe their health symptoms or the corrosion of certain metal components in their homes are related to problem drywall. How would you respond?

Beneath a photograph (not shown) a comment in an inspection report reads “A flexible gas connector passes through the side of the furnace where it connects to the valve, this does not comply with installation and safety standards. A steel pipe should connect to the valve and extend to the outside of the cabinet where the flexible connector can be attached.”

Chapter Meetings

This year chapeter meetings will be held every other month. All meeting except the conference will be held on a Saturday.
Breakfast will be served.
Reservations are essential. People who show-up without reservations are welcome but may not get breakfast.

Polybutylene Benefits Set to Expire May 2009

The $1.1 billion settlement of the class action lawsuit against polybutylene piping (Cox vs Shell Oil Company) will expire on January 31, 2009.  The lawsuit, filed on November 17, 1995 on behalf of homeowners with PB pipe, provides for free replacement of the PB pipe and compensation for damage to properties with qualifying leaks.  The Consumer Plumbing Recovery Center (CPRC) in Plano Texas has been the authorized administrator for this settlement and manages a website to provide more information regarding PB pipe and the claims process (www.pbpipe.com).  CPRC can also be reached by phone at 1-800-392-7591.
